Nothing Surprises me anymore

This story once again shows that we as a society have not progressed as much as some want to admit.  Fans of a youth football team taunting their opposers by wearing black face and afros; and to make matters worse, they allowed the fans to stay at the football game!!! (video clip)

It pisses me off that every time a racial incident occurs, people in this country say: “we would never think that in this day and age we would have to talk to our kids about this” Racism never left our society.  We still have hate groups in this country such as the Ku Klux Klan and Skin Heads.  So why is it so hard for main stream America to recognize this?  When we argue how important Affirmative Action is in this country, why do we keep getting shot down by main stream America?

Where are all the black conservatives who taunt and talk about Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and call them others as trouble makers?  Or when they accuse them of holding black people back?  Racism is a destructive taught behavior that is alive and well in our society; and I hate to say that as long as people have free will to instill any types of values in their children it will continue.

I read this article on RachelsTavern’s blog site.  Good looking out Rachel

  1. Whenever someone says “this day and age” it strikes me as kind of dumb. My parents are 60 years old – they have very clear memories of racial discrimination being the norm, and were adults during the civil rights movement that led to this being “this day and age”. It hasn’t been long enough for people to think it’s ancient history.

  2. You aren’t alone. It happens everywhere, to every race. Adn people still just don’t get it.

for another similar incident that still has not been acted on!

  3. as long as people exist, discrimination will too. It does not mean that we should ignore the good in people.
