16 y/o Child Charged in Capitol Heights Murder

16 y/o Charged in Capitol Heights Murder.  When will my people wake up!! I am glad that this man turned himself in, but my heart is heavy this morning.  Where was his parental control?  Why was he out that late at night?  Who is responsible for his upbringing.

His parents should be held partly responsible as well.  I know raising children are hard, but there comes a time where you have to be proactive.  If you area single parent who can’t keep up with your child, there are many local youth mentoring programs in the Washington, D.C. area.  There are black men in these organizations waiting to reach out to the black youth.  You can’t do it alone, it is not a sign of weakness to ask for help. Black parents, please stop neglecting our children!!!!!  Wake up!! If you are one other “responsible parents”  then reach out and join a program and give back.  Stop hiding behind your gated communities in and luxury housing complexes in Prince George’s County and do something!!! Our county is going to hell in a hand-basket fast!!!!  Our County Executive and other law makers don’t give a damn unless we give a damn!!!

Here is an excellent piece speaking on the issue: Time for Parents to do their job

  1. Well bro, I don’t know about making the parents partialy responsible. Don’t get me wrong I know a lot of times they are negligent and are responsible, but I grew up with some guys who went wrong as teenagers and their parents raised them right they just chose wrong.

It’s a double tragedy, two lives wasted.

  2. Yo Native excellent post, you are correct in my oppinion parents should be held responsible for some of the things that thier kids do, it is more than obvious that a lot of black parents are too busy doing other things to be great parents. Also this is a function of fathers not bieng around to provide stability to thier families and communities over the last 30 years at.

  3. It doesn’t help that is is apparently very easy for a 16 year-old to obtain a gun and ammunition. We’ve got way too many guns in this country. Guys, as a white man who reads this blog regularly, I just don’t know what to say. As responsible black men, this stuff it must be incredibly frustrating to you.
