Master P Responds to Ignorant Comments mad by 50 Cent

I knew it would only be a short time before some of Hip-Hops most ignorant would make comments on Master P’s announcement that he was starting a record label which would not allow profanity and language that demeans black woman; and 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) did not disappoint.

During the BET (Bootleg Entertainment Television) backstage press conference, 50 Cent sounded off   when questioned by a reporter of his usage of the words Bitch, Nigger and Ho in his lyrics, 50 Cent of course turned to main stream society.  He took the popular:  Hip-Hop is a reflection of the problems in main stream society.  Blah Blah Blah….

His statement was truly ignorant.  It is cultural conditioning working at its best and affecting us at its worse.  I say this because most of the rappers in hip-hop, didn’t even live the lives they rap about.  And those who did live that life, don’t live in the hood anymore.  They are living the good life now.  50 Cent is rolling in millions.  He raps about being shot 9 times and how rough he grew up.

The problem I have with some Hip-hop artist is how do you rap about your reality but don’t offer solutions for your fans on how to get out of the hood themselves?  How do you rap about how you used to sell drugs and how you were shot 9 times; use that as backboard to build your career, while leaving the rest of your hood behind fighting the same struggle you once fought yourself.  50 Cent glorifies his past wrong doings and wears them as a badge of honor instead of using them as examples of mistakes of your past.

How do you know discuss in your lyrics that the lifestyle you lived and still pretend to live now, more then likely leads to death and not prosperity??  Is this not a “sell out” mentality?  50 Cent is the true definition of someone who has sold out; he sold his soul to make a buck.

when 50 Cent was asked about Master P’s new venture to start a profanity free record label,  50 Cent basically discounted Master P by saying that Master P is not even in the rap game anymore:

“Well Master P doesn’t sell CDs anymore,” 50 said calmly, which caused the room full of reporters to burst out laughing. “You can tell him I said it. Cameras is rollin’ right? …‘Curtis,’ June 26.”

Master P Responds to 50 Cent in an Open Letter

Man, Master P handle his business in his open letter.  His response not only exposed how ignorant 50 Cent is, but broke him down to about 5 Cents…lol  I have to take my hat off to Master P for calling this punk to task.  I think the most important statement Master P said in his open letter is right here:

There are four things that differentiate me from artists like Curtis Jackson. One, I can honestly admit that I was once part of the problem.

Two, I don’t want my son to grow up and be like me. I want him to be better and do better – and that is why he is taking the time to pursue a college degree.

Three, money don’t make me, I make money. My goal is to educate our people in building generational wealth and knowing how important it is to own real estate.

Four, I’m a TRUE entrepreneur; my boss is God not Jimmy Iovine.  From one brother to another, if you misunderstand my purpose you could always pick up the phone or talk to me in person. I’m trying to be part of the solution not the problem. The media thrives on entertaining, especially the negativity no matter what the cost. I’m praying for the brothers that are lost out there.

Master P said it all, I don’t even have to say anything else.

  2. Yo Native thank you for this post, I just read the master p letter and Im so friggin proud of that brotha. What he is doing will by defualt put pressure on some of these other big name entertainers to make changes. Peace brotha Native

  3. I wish Master P good luck as he embarks on this new chapter in his life. I found “Fiddy’s” attitude truly disrespectful. He may not agree with P’s position, but he didn’t have to have to resort to insults. I guess that’s the difference between someone who is maturing and someone who wants to continue to play the fool.

  4. 50 Cent huh lol…..well, the comment he made about my boy Master P was a buster move…….i have have much respect for P, because he opened the door for the SOUTH and if it wasn’t for him the other rappers wouldn’t even be in the position they are now……P represent what we go through every day in Louisiana…….P we got your back and when ever you dropp something we’ll support you……Louisiana always support their own and 50 should quit trying to play hard and respect what a real OG does…..

  5. master p is a has been. hes a 40 year old rapper that is about to retire. hes not respected like he used to be. 50 is the new deal. 50 is makin hip hop today. and master p is a fool for droppin an album on the same day as 50, 50 is gunna shit on p. 50 is gunna sell atleast 8,000,000 copies. p aint gunna sell that. p u should just quit the music busines and go home to ur family, make an episode wit ur family.. “dancin wit the family” or sumthin.. enough said, 50’s on top now p… hate it or love it.

  6. Flavio: Master P’s age means nothing. I applaud him for stepping up to plate and not being ignorant like 50 Cent. It is about self respect for himself and for black people.

  7. just found this blog. great subject. i had been thinking about master p a while back. i so respect him and diddy for being among the first to run their business, rather than just working on a label. i remember reading that he negotiated control of the distribution of his records. as you get older, you really can appreciate these guys that are on their hustle. obviously, p has matured and 50 is still an ignorant boy. talented, but ignorant.
