Weekend shooting claims life of Suitland teen

I didn’t even hear about this shooting.  Another black youth; gone.  We are loosing our children and a lot of us don’t care.  When a youth is shot in this area, we just shake our heads; the families of the youth usually have make-shift memorials where the child was shot crying and screaming.

Most of the time, the make-shift memorials are usually the only time you can get the family and community involved in the child’s life (I know I may be generalizing a bit).  It’s sad that more people show up on the street corner to attend a candle light memorial service than at a PTA meeting.  This is not to say that this was the case with this young child, but you know what I am talking about.

In other local news, The Prince George’s County Public School System is starting a new campaign to attract teachers to the County.  They are posting advertisments with the faces of children from the county.  I think this was a good move.  The Board is trying to fill 1,300 positions.
