Bridge Falls Into Mississippi River

My prayers goes out to everyone involved in the bridge collapse in MN.  I could not take my eyes off the video footage.  The way images of the way this bridge fell is mind boggling.  It doesn’t even look real.  The whole span of a 8 highway bridge is gone; collapsed.

We, the citizens in this country need to wake up.  Bridges throughout this country are old and are in need of repair.  The infrastructure of our cities underground pipes and sewer systems or old and need to be repaired or replaced and the States don’t have the money to do it.  So who does that leave?  The Federal Government!!

This country has a habit of not responding until something like this happens.  And then we scratch our heads and wonder where the money is going to come from to fix the infrastructure.

Well to start, we could have useda fraction of the billions of dollars we spent in Iraq to fix the problem.  Officials are now estimating that the invasion of Iraq will cost us 1 trillion dollars!!!

We might now know for a couple of years why this bridge collasped, this country’s infrastructure needs attention.

  1. I guess it never occurred to the government that it’s cheaper to keep the infrastructure maintained than to wait for a tragedy to happen. Now it will cost even more money, when you factor in the wrongful death and injury lawsuits. Oh, and the insurance claims for all the vehicles that were totalled. And let’s not forget, they will have to re-build this bridge from scratch.
