Eugene Robinson’s Op-Ed Piece on Black America

Afripino reminded me to read this article.  Thanks Afripino.

I heard about Eugene Robinson’s  piece this morning and didn’t have a chance to read it.  Just read it and I agree with what he is saying.  We need multiple agendas; there is not one size fits all approach when it comes to black folk.

I also like what he had to say about how the media complains about Sharpton and Jackson always commenting and involving themselves in black issues; but the media themselves could change that by asking the opinions of other black educators and scholars; they do exist.  We are a very diverse people; now only if we can get main stream America to understand that.

  1. All I can say is FINALLY! Your issues and agenda are going to be somewhat different from my girlfriend’s, even though you’re both nominally Black (she’s part Scot and part Apache). It’s about time someone with actual media credibility started saying that Black isn’t “one color fits all.”

    Thanks for posting this!

  2. Native Son,

You said: “We need multiple agendas; there is not one size fits all approach when it comes to black folk” and “the media themselves could change that by asking the opinions of other black educators and scholars; they do exist.”

You hit the nail on the head.

    Thanks!
